broken air

many people wouldn't want to
other people wouldn't dare
but sometimes you have to open up
a jar of broken air

you will find it on the highest shelf
you might forget it's there
but sometimes it comes in handy
a jar of broken air

we canned a few so long ago
with all the greatest care
we have a few remaining jars
filled up with broken air

it's more powerful than spinshine
and it comes from a nightmare
long ago we got some bottled
just in case we need a spare

i'm not talking about pickles
tomatoes or camembert
i speak of certain sealed-up jars
that hold some broken air
